We had based our van behind the Little River Hotel in their camping area at the start of a two week photoshoot in this greater Banks Peninsula area..
Deciding to have dinner at the Hotel on the first night was a good idea, as along with the food, we got yarning to a group of locals who gave us so many great photo ideas and locations of such..
One such location was on top of the hills overlooking the little town of Little River, where once stood a forest of the giant Totara trees..
Over the early Century years almost all were harvested and milled to provide the necessary timber to supply the Canterbury nations needs..
When we arrived up there, only two of the giants remain standing, both dead….. or were they.. look again… !
