Pakety Paradise..!

This Pakety Hut, was the last stop on an 11 day horse trek thru the mountain country of Canterbury, and it is a hut that is rarely visited..

I had been in the saddle from early morning and had traveled some 7 hours to get here…

Never having been to this hut before I had a lot of trouble finding the horse pack track that descended from the opposite side of the hills in the back ground , down to the stream then across to this hut… I searched up and down for a hour or more looking for the track but alas couldnt find it, and having a pack horse with me, I didnt want to risk any dodgy steep descent cattle track down..

After a fruitless search, I was forced to trek another ten kilometres down the other side of the river until finding a place to get down to the river, then the ten kilometres back to the overnight hut here..

Interesting, once arrived and looking back over from the hut side, if I had only gone a few metres more up river, I would have found the track… but now its stored for another day..!

O the joys of horse trekking at times..!
