As seen here it takes a lot of man power to run one thrashing gang, each person has his own responsibility to do his part correctly to ensure a smooth running mill ..
The thrashing mill has to be set at the right speed to get the best yield out of the crop thrashed, and this speed has to be adjusted to suit all the variations of moisture and density of the crop, hence all three guys sampling the product coming off the machine..
For some, the long days of forking the stooks across to the mill would be back breaking work indeed, as with the guys on the bagging end, stacking the full sacks that weight a lot.. some times these mills run 24 hours a day when conditions were suitable..
