Two horse Power…!

“Two Horse Power”…!  Canterbury, NZ

All saddled, and ready to head out from Eskhead Station in the South branch of the Hurunui River up to Deep Creek hut for the night, then early next day a long up hill to the top of the Dampier range, then a long descent down into the very back of the vast Mt White Station in the headwaters of the Esk and Waimakariri rivers.

This trip we covered some 170 kilometres over 11 days, and visited every hut on Mt White..!

Pictured to my left, my faithful old fella “Shamous” and once again little bailey as my pack horse..

The pack horse weight including pack saddle, weighs no more than 60kg, and we keep this lighter weight as the terrain is difficult in places..
