Steam under pressure produced from the Traction Engine , delivered by pipe to the steam powered pile driver was a very effective and quick way to get the job done..!

The steam winch also on the engine was used to hook the next wooden pile on to its wire rope,and stand this up against the gig, which held it straight while driving into the ground..
