“Crystal Clear”..! St James Conservation Park, Canterbury, NZ

This early autumn scene showing Mt Crystal towering over Lake Tennyson on the boundary of Molesworth and St James Stations, is quite rare in the fact that it was around mid day and the lake still mirror calm…

Behind this lake setting is a long valley orientated straight back to the direction of the prevailing North West winds that whip these lands, so it not uncommon to have gale force weather day after day in this region..

This day we were on the horses once again at the beginning of a day ride  following a horse pack track around the side of the lake to the far end then out onto the wide expanse of the river flats above…such beauty and virtually right on our back door step..!
